An antique French wood fire screen with a tapestry featuring a floral motif. Incredibly elegant Victorian needlepoint tapestry on rotating mahogany frame stand from the Victorian era. One-of-a-kind.
    Short history:
Fire screens were used to cover the fireplace when nothing was burning inside it, and make it look more decorative.
The pole screen began to appear in the 18th century. It is a screen placed on a vertical pole that is mounted on a tripod; placed between a lit fire and an occupant of the room to reduce the discomfort of excessive heat from a log fire.
