This is an original photo of Jim Morrison from 1970. It is a private photo and no others exist. Here is the provenance ……
I purchased this from a gentleman who confirmed the background on it. He was the original owner. He was in the US Army in the late 60’s and was stationed in Washington DC before being transferred out to The Letterman Hospital on the Presidio in San Francisco in early September 1969. While there, he befriended a fellow serviceman who was a photographer in the Army. This friend invited him to go to several concerts with him—among those he saw Janis Joplin (see other auction for that photo listed) and He saw The Doors and Jim Morrison in February 1970!!! He confirmed it was The Roadhouse Blues Tour and thst he was there with the photographer at Winterland Arena in San Francisco but cannot recall if it was Feb 5 or Feb 6 of 1970. Morrison and the Doors performed back to back nights there on those dates.
The Army photographer surprised the gentleman I bought this from when they ended their stint there in San Francisco and gave him this photo (in this original frame).
Photo measures 8 x 10 and I took the back of frame off and took pics of the back too
