VTG Ceramic Night Carafe & Tumbler as Lid Ivory/ Pink Flowers 1985 Portugal.
This is a very interesting piece I can’t find one like it as it looks like a Ginger Jar but the surprise is when you remove the lid it’s a tumbler to drink from. This was used as a night time water container on your bed side table.
You could use this piece in your bathroom put your tooth brush in it and after brushing use the tumbler to rinse. You could use it as a vase and a succulent pot. Or you could turn the tumbler upside down and burn a votive candle in it.
The carafe is 5.5 inches tall the carafe with the tumbler on top is 7.5 inches tall the tumbler by itself is 3 inches.
There are many uses. I’ll bet you can think of many!
The carafe has an uneven inside of the base. I think it was fired that way in a kiln. It has been used over 30 years and the bottom outside does not have cracks. I think it’s just an imperfection in the glaze.1
